Our Tentative Times,
a family of cberzines
Our Tentative Times began life as one magazine. As it grew, it had to be divided into five magazines. Our Tentative Times was a long name, so we called the baby Otto, and still use it as an umbrella term and as a name for Opine, the Opinions magazine of Our Tentative Times. Otto is a convenient scapegoat, although he's a bird. When things go wrong, we can blame it on Otto. Otto doesn't mind. No really, look at him. He's good-natured.
The Five Magazines

Opine is a forum for the perks and quirks of small-town living around Indiana and across the US. So far, the staff is Sandra Weinhardt (editor, writer, photographer) and William Weinhardt, contributing writer and fawlty proofreader. Lena Kovid has contributed to Our Tentativetimes's history.
The Gene Stratton-Porter magazine is made for the State of Indiana Dept. of Historic Sites, as a gesture of friendship. Parlor City Internet has been kind enough to host it. Most of it is written and edited and photographed by Sandra Weinhardt, with some letters submitted by fans, a booklist submitted by Linda Janilla, and a column written by Becky Smith, curator of the Limberlost State Historic Site.
Deaners allows James Dean fans to express themselves and to network. Written, edited and mostly photographed by Sandra Weinhardt, with sections by Magdalin Leonardo in New York and Mike Nelson in California. Each of them sent photos. Maxine Rowland of Ohio and Butch Daly of California donated photos used in Deaners. Dean Archivist David Loehr is a constant supporter. Marina Savic from Michigan started the ball rolling for fan art, helped by Brown Eyed Girl in Hawaii and Gary King, R. Reever, Alex Bernico, Robert Richards and a great deal of art by Mark K. Kinnaman of Indiana. There are others I have thoughtlessly overlooked. Remind me, please. There were many contributors to the Cholame section.
The Nostalgia-zine cyberzine includes the extensive coverage of Bluffton, Indiana as well as 1950s cars and drive-ins. All three high schools in Wells County have alumni news pages here. These are the perks and quirks of small-town living. Sandra Weinhardt made all the pages and photos, unless otherwise noted. Paul Bender of the Wells County Historical Society writes in with help on historical facts. Dale Krinn graciously allowed us to photograph his world-famous Winchester gun collection.
Tell-Mama, our music magazine has grown phenominally. It takes almost all my time. It is edited, written, photographed and researched by Sandra Weinhardt, who invites everyone to send in gig schedules, reviews, gossip (or photos in .jpg format.) Recent contributors have been Bill Smoker from England, Tracy Gray from Windsor, Ontario and MaChelle in Saint Louis. The Acid Bath pages contain tributes from all over the globe, upon the death of bass player Audie Petrie. That small band has had an astounding influence on a huge number of people. Nostalgia-zine's drive-ins and other fifties pages tie in with this and with Deaners.
All the photos in these five magazines are the property of Sandra Weinhardt; (unless otherwise attributed) contact her for permission to use them to promote the bands. Permission usually cheerfully granted.
The Rockabilly Chronicle is now renamed Tell-Mama.
